Gavel pen made from mesquite. Took Russ's advice and got rid of the centerband. Kit used was a euro screw cap.
Displayed in the Provo '04 Pen Display in the 7mm Class
Prairie Rattlesnake skin embedded in Polyester Resin with spalted pecan
Three more gavels with pens in the handle.

same gavels as in the left picture, but the pens are open.
Finally tried one of Ken Nelson's freedom pen kits. Thanks Ken for a nice kit, fun and challenging to make. A stunning pen
As some of you may know, the gym at my school was destroyed by a tornado back in March. I obtained some of the maple flooring and have made about 80 pens from it. The red ones were dyed with aniline dye.
A group of pens made for a customer. The OO and spalted pecan were harvested from his ranch in central Texas.

Another gym floor pen. The finial and end of the barrel were replace with wood. My first attempt as this. Green aniline dye
A couple of elk antler pens and a couple of pentel pencil that were made without the use of the step drill. I did an article for the pentel pencils that is in the files area over in Yahoo PT.
Here is a conducting baton I made from the gym floor for our drum major at school. She is off to college majoring in music with an emphasis in conducting. She loved it.

The Ebonite Trilogy completed. This is an El Grande BP made from the ebonite purchased from Denmark. Pat and Rich posted the first two and I'm bringing up the rear. Fun to turn, not difficult but it is definitely hard rubber. The skew did not work but the gouge did an excellent job
My wife and daughter are both SCUBA divers and they challenged me to make a pen with the dive flag. Here are my two replies to their challenge. The left pen is BE Maple and the flag is dyed with red aniline dye. The right pen is mahogany and the red is Corian. The white stripes are plastic I picked up from a local sign shop scrap box.
Nothing special...except the wood. The cigars were made from a mesquite burl found in a pile of twisted trees cleared by my neighbor. They've been drying since last summer and I could stand it no longer.
Pen and Pencil set made from Corian and lightly spalted pecan (state tree of Texas). The pencil is made from one laminated blank and the two tubes and coupler were replaced with one long tube. The pencil's length has little or no leeway, so the pen's length was made to match the pencil's. The kits are, of course, slimlines.
